Master Jewellers of the 21st Century

WHEN:

WHERE:

London

WHAT:

When the written word was invented 5,000 years ago triggering the beginning of history, Egypt’s first Pharaoh Narmer was already smothering himself in gold amulets and precious stones. Such is the power of jewellery.

Egypt finally fell to the Romans but mighty jewellery nations emerged in China, India and France – each with their own distinct style. Melanie will look at three modern day master jewellers, at the height of their powers who now represent these three nations.

JAR in Paris, the home of couture. Viren Bhagat in India, a culture more steeped in jewellery than any other. Wallace Chan in Hong Kong, on the new frontier of Chinese wealth. Three rebels who have redefined the art of the jewel today.
