William Morris’ designs for wallpaper and textiles have remained popular since the late 19th century. Join Jenny Lister, Curator of textiles and fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum to explore why Morris’s approach to design and decoration, that one should “Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful,” has such enduring appeal.

In this fascinating talk Jenny Lister describes the collection of Morris’ work at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She highlights the important role May Morris played in securing her father’s legacy, as well as the different ways that 21st century curators, historians and commercial partners are using the collection today.

Jenny Lister is curator of textiles and fashion at the Victoria and Albert Museum. She co-curated the V&A exhibitions Swinging Sixties and Grace Kelly Style and co-edited the accompanying books.
