So asks the upcoming MoMA exhibition on fashion and design, Items: Is Fashion Modern?, itself reprising the question that titled architect and curator Bernard Rudofsky’s compelling yet relatively little-known 1944 exhibition Are Clothes Modern?, the only other time that the museum has fully addressed this field of design. Rudofsky’s design-led approach.
